Intro

I never would have predicted that upon convocating from the U of R life would take me to Tamale, Ghana, in the savanna of West Africa. But here I am, August 29th, preparing to embark on this amazing journey and trying to take in every last moment of Canada before I become an expat in Africa for the next seven months. I took a long, hot bath; ordered one last grilled cheese sandwich; took a tour to the top of the CN Tower; and made some farewell calls home.
Throughout our training these last two weeks we have covered everything from dealing with cultural shock to treating travellers diarrhea : ( ; we have shared our hopes and fears; and bonded over common challenges we all anticipate.

So now I feel ready...ready to haul my ridiculously heavy 60+ kg's of luggage to the TO airport and hop on that plane destined for Tamale, where my adventure awaits me. I will be working at Tamale Polytechnic as an Entrepreneurship Marketing Intern. In a nutshell, my mandate is to develop a public awareness campaign for entrepreneurship as a viable career option in the north and promote the training and support that is available to aspiring and established entrepreneurs at T-Poly and it's sister schools in Wa and Bolgatanga.

I will be thinking of you all and I look forward to sharing many of my adventures on this site! :)
